Invitation public hearing - On the way to PlanetProof Plant products Central Europe

The criteria of the certification scheme On the way to PlanetProof for plant products Central Europe are reviewed yearly. The new criteria will be valid from January 1st 2020.

The following changes are proposed for the revision of the current certification scheme:

Energy and climate

  • Norms for greenhouse gas emissions in protected cultivation

Crop protection

  • Update lists active substances subject to additional conditions and green products
  • Prevention of farmyard emission
  • Active substance limits (categorization of crops)
  • Frequency residue analyses

Biodiversity and landscape

  • Exploring options for mandatory biodiversity efforts
  • Changes in several optional measures

Soil fertility

  • Prevention of erosion

Water

  • Improving the criteria of the chapter Water through: more logical order of criteria, improved definitions, criteria more goal-oriented and internationally applicable.

General criteria

  • Review of current assessment guidelines for certification of trade and retail

Public hearing November 14th and written input

As part of the revision process, SMK will hold a public hearing (in Dutch) on November 14th in which questions can be asked, and feedback can be given on the final proposal for the new certification scheme. This is the last possibility for input before the Committee of Experts agro/ food Plant Products establishes the criteria.
